I’ve always used the arts in what I would call a shamanic way, for self-revelation and to further my own inner journey. As I begin the step of sharing my creative process, I will include samples from various disciplines that may inspire others, here and on a sister site. The goal of the inner journey is wholeness, and I have found self-expression most helpful in integrating the shadow and soul parts we each must access to become whole.
There is a theory and strategy behind this kind of use of the arts, briefly detailed in the Sacred Art link, below. But for now, I'll let the samples speak for themselves. In some cases, because out of context, what I describe above may not be evident. It appears to be just a drawing, or poem, or story. But by looking into the work as a mirror, I engaged a different way, and can gratefully say, each has helped me grow, not just as artist, but as a human.
